Z-OSu

Z-OSu is a protected amino acid derivative in which the "Z" group refers to a benzyloxycarbonyl (Cbz) protecting group attached to an amino functionality, and the "OSu" denotes an active ester (succinimidyl ester) form that converts the carboxyl group into a succinimide leaving-group derivative. The molecule therefore bears a Cbz-protected amino group alongside an activated ester at the carboxyl position, providing a controlled electrophilic handle for acyl transfer chemistry while suppressing undesired reactions involving the free amine. Z-OSu is used in peptide chemistry and related acylation workflows as an activated amino-acid building block for forming amide bonds under conditions compatible with the stability of the Cbz protecting group.
