L-GLUTAMINE (2,3,3,4,4-D5, 15N2) is an isotopically labeled, proteinogenic amino acid amide in which the glutamine side chain is enriched with five deuterium atoms and the amino nitrogens are labeled with two 15N atoms, while the α-amino and α-carboxyl framework remains that of L-glutamine. The molecule contains a free α-amino group and a free carboxylic acid group, plus a terminal primary amide on the side chain that bears the 15N label, providing the same functional hydrogen-bonding motif used for glutamine-like chemical behavior in peptide and biochemical contexts. In research workflows, the labeled glutamine is employed as an isotopic tracer or internal standard for mass spectrometry-based amino acid profiling, metabolic flux and turnover studies, and for preparing labeled peptide or amino acid derivatives where incorporation of the glutamine side chain is tracked by isotopic patterning.
