L-METHIONINE-N-FMOC (15N) is an isotopically labeled, protected methionine derivative in which the amino group of L-methionine is carbamated with an Fmoc protecting group and the nitrogen is enriched in 15N. The molecule retains the methionine side chain containing a thioether (sulfide) functionality while presenting an Fmoc-protected α-amino group and a free carboxylic acid for controlled chemoselective transformations. It is used as a building block for stepwise peptide synthesis and for analytical or chemical biology workflows that benefit from 15N labeling at the amino nitrogen, such as mass spectrometry-based labeling strategies and structure-property studies of peptide and protein analogues.
