TBTU

TBTU is a uronium-based coupling reagent used in peptide chemistry to activate carboxylic acids for amide bond formation. The molecule contains a tetrafluoroborate counterion and a reactive uronium center that promotes formation of an activated carboxyl intermediate, while its overall structure is designed to minimize side reactions during coupling. TBTU is employed in solution-phase and solid-phase peptide synthesis workflows to facilitate stepwise assembly of peptide bonds from amino acid derivatives bearing free carboxyl groups.
