Z-D-aspartic acid

Z-D-aspartic acid is a D-stereochemical amino acid derivative of aspartic acid bearing an N-benzyloxycarbonyl (Z, Cbz) protecting group on the amino functionality, with the side chain featuring a carboxylic acid suitable for further derivatization. The molecule contains both a free carboxyl group on the side chain and a carboxyl group at the α-position, while the protected amine is rendered less nucleophilic by the carbamate, supporting chemoselective transformations. Z-D-aspartic acid is used as a protected amino acid building block for peptide synthesis and for preparing aspartate-containing peptide or peptidomimetic intermediates in solution-phase or solid-phase workflows where control of amine reactivity is required.
