Z-D-Pyr-OH

Z-D-Pyr-OH contains a D-configured pyrrolidine amino acid framework in which the amino functionality is present as a protected carbamate (Z, i.e., benzyloxycarbonyl) attached to the nitrogen, and the molecule also bears a free carboxylic acid group (-COOH). The pyrrolidine ring provides a secondary amine backbone that constrains the side-chain geometry, while the Z protecting group masks the amino group to control chemoselectivity during peptide-coupling chemistry. Z-D-Pyr-OH is used as a protected amino acid building block for preparing peptide and peptide-like intermediates, including solid-phase or solution-phase syntheses where stepwise incorporation of the D-pyrrolidine residue is required.
