Z-Dap(Z)-OH

Z-Dap(Z)-OH is a protected amino acid derivative of 2,3-diaminopropanoic acid (diaminopropionic acid), bearing two amino functionalities and a carboxylic acid as the free acid terminus. The molecule contains an Nα-benzyloxycarbonyl (Z, Cbz) protecting group on the α-amino group and an additional Z (benzyloxycarbonyl) protecting group on the side-chain amino, with both nitrogen atoms rendered as carbamates while the α-carboxyl group remains unprotected. This protected diamino acid is used as a building block in peptide synthesis and related stepwise coupling workflows, where masked amines help control chemoselectivity and reduce undesired side reactions during assembly of peptide or peptidomimetic structures.
