Z-L-Thr-OSu is a protected amino acid derivative consisting of L-threonine bearing an N-benzyloxycarbonyl (Z) carbamate on the amino group and an activated N-hydroxysuccinimide ester (OSu) at the carboxylate. The molecule contains a free side-chain hydroxyl characteristic of threonine, while the Z group masks the alpha-amino functionality and the OSu ester converts the carboxyl group into a leaving-group-bearing electrophile for acyl transfer. Z-L-Thr-OSu is used in peptide and amide bond synthesis and in chemical labeling or conjugation workflows where controlled coupling of the threonine carboxyl functionality to amines is required under conditions compatible with the Z-protected amino acid framework.
