Z-Lys(Z)-OSu is a protected lysine derivative in which the α-amino group is carbobenzyloxy (Z/Cbz) protected and the ε-amino side chain is also Z-protected, while the carboxyl functionality is converted to an N-hydroxysuccinimide ester (OSu). The molecule therefore bears two benzyloxycarbonyl-protected amines and an activated carboxyl group as an OSu ester, with stereochemistry consistent with the "Z-Lys" designation at the α-carbon. As an amino acid N-hydroxysuccinimide ester, it is used as an activated lysine building block for amide bond formation in peptide coupling workflows and for preparing lysine-containing conjugates or labeled intermediates where chemoselective acyl transfer from the OSu ester is required.
