L-ISOLEUCINE-N-T-BOC (15N) is an isotopically labeled, protected amino acid derivative in which L-isoleucine is modified at the amino group by a tert-butoxycarbonyl (N-Boc) protecting group and the nitrogen atom is enriched with 15N. The molecule contains a free carboxylic acid functional group and a Boc-protected α-amino functionality, while the side chain retains the branched aliphatic isoleucine structure that bears a hydrophobic functionality. As a labeled, stepwise peptide-synthesis intermediate, it is used to introduce an N-Boc-protected, 15N-containing isoleucine unit for incorporation into peptides and for isotopic labeling in analytical method development, NMR-based studies, and structure-activity or chemical biology experiments.
