Z-Abu-OSu is a protected amino acid derivative featuring an Abu (α-aminobutyric acid) core converted to an N-protected form and an active ester (OSu, N-hydroxysuccinimide ester) for acyl transfer chemistry. The molecule contains an N-terminal Z (benzyloxycarbonyl, Cbz) protecting group that masks the amino functionality while the carboxyl group is esterified as the OSu active ester, enabling controlled coupling without exposing the free carboxyl as a carboxylic acid. Z-Abu-OSu is used as an activated building block in peptide and amide bond synthesis and can serve as a substrate for stepwise preparation of amino acid and peptide derivatives under conditions where chemoselective acylation is required.
