Z-Asn-OMe

Z-Asn-OMe contains the amino acid side chain of asparagine (Asn) in a protected, methyl ester form, where the α-amino functionality is masked with a benzyloxycarbonyl (Z, Cbz) protecting group and the carboxyl group is converted to a methoxy methyl ester (OMe). The molecule bears a side-chain amide characteristic of asparagine, while the Z carbamate and esterification change the chemoselectivity relative to the free amino acid by suppressing direct amide and carboxyl reactivity. Z-Asn-OMe is used as a protected asparagine derivative for stepwise peptide synthesis and as a substrate building block in solution-phase or solid-phase assembly workflows that require controlled handling of the amino and carboxyl functionalities.
