Z-beta-tBu-Ala-OH · DCHA is a protected amino acid derivative featuring a β-substituted alanine backbone bearing a tert-butyl group on the β-position and a Z-type (benzyloxycarbonyl-related) protecting group on the amino functionality, with the carboxylic acid present as a free acid. The molecule contains an amino-acid core with both amino and carboxyl functionalities, while the β-tert-butyl substituent provides increased steric bulk and hydrophobic character; the "· DCHA" indicates association with dicyclohexylamine as a counterion for the carboxylate salt form.
