Z-D-Dap-OMe*HCl

Z-D-Dap-OMe*HCl is a protected amino acid derivative in which the side chain of 2,3-diaminopropionic acid (Dap) is functionalized with a Z (benzyloxycarbonyl, Cbz-like) carbamate on the amino group and the carboxyl terminus is present as a methyl ester (OMe), with the "D" stereochemical designation indicating the D configuration at the alpha carbon. The molecule contains a free amino group on the side chain and a methyl ester functionality, and the hydrochloride counterion (HCl) forms a salt that protonates the basic amine to improve handling and define ionic character. Z-D-Dap-OMe*HCl is used as a building block for peptide and peptidomimetic synthesis and as a substrate precursor in chemical biology workflows where controlled protection of the amino functionality and ester activation state are required for stepwise coupling and downstream transformations.
