Z-L-MeSer(tBu)-OH

Z-L-MeSer(tBu)-OH is a protected, stereochemically specified amino acid derivative featuring an L-configured methylserine backbone bearing a tert-butyl-substituted side-chain hydroxyl protected as the tert-butyl ether. The molecule contains an N-terminal benzyloxycarbonyl (Z, Cbz) protecting group on the amino function and a free carboxylic acid (-COOH) at the C-terminus, with the side chain retaining the serine-derived oxygen functionality masked by the tBu group. Z-L-MeSer(tBu)-OH is used as a protected building block for stepwise peptide synthesis and for preparing serine-methyl variants in chemical biology and structure-activity studies where controlled deprotection and chemoselective coupling are required.
