Z-Lys-SBzl · HCl

Z-Lys-SBzl · HCl is a protected lysine derivative in which the α-amino group is protected as a benzyloxycarbonyl (Z, Cbz) carbamate while the side-chain ε-amino group is benzylated (SBzl), and the compound is provided as a hydrochloride salt. The molecule contains a free carboxyl group and a protonated amine salt form associated with HCl, with the benzyl substituents serving as stable protecting groups that suppress unprotected amine reactivity during peptide coupling. Z-Lys-SBzl · HCl is used as a protected amino acid building block for stepwise peptide synthesis and for preparing lysine-containing peptide intermediates where controlled chemoselectivity of the α-carboxyl and protected amine functionalities is required.
