GLYCINE, N-ACETYL (2-13C) is an isotopically labeled glycine derivative in which the amino group is acetylated, forming an N-acetylated amino acid bearing a side chain that is a hydrogen. The molecule contains an acetylated nitrogen (amide functionality) and a free carboxyl group, and the label at the acetyl carbonyl carbon is indicated by "(2-13C)," providing a defined 13C site for spectroscopic or mass-based detection. This protected/derivatized glycine analogue is used as a labeled building block and reference material for isotopic tracing, NMR or MS method development, and the preparation of more complex labeled amino acid and peptide-related intermediates where retention of the 13C label is required.
