Threo-DL-β-Hydroxynorvaline

Threo-DL-β-Hydroxynorvaline is a non-proteinogenic β-hydroxy amino acid derivative featuring a five-carbon (norvaline) backbone with a hydroxyl substituent at the β-position and a threo relative configuration within the β-hydroxy stereochemical relationship, supplied as a DL mixture. The molecule contains both an amino group and a carboxyl group, enabling formation of amino acid salts and peptide-coupling intermediates, while the β-hydroxyl side chain provides an additional hydrogen-bonding and polarity handle for chemical derivatization.
