Tos-L-Phe-OH

Tos-L-Phe-OH is an L-phenylalanine derivative in which the amino group is protected as a tosyl (Ts) sulfonamide while retaining the free carboxylic acid functionality. The molecule contains an aromatic benzyl side chain characteristic of phenylalanine, and its Ts-protected nitrogen provides sulfonamide stabilization and chemoselective behavior by reducing the nucleophilicity of the amino group relative to unprotected amino acids. Tos-L-Phe-OH is used as a protected amino acid building block for preparing peptide-related intermediates and for controlled stepwise assembly of amino acid sequences in solution-phase or solid-phase synthesis workflows where the carboxyl group and protected amine must be differentiated.
