Z-L-aspartic acid β-methyl ester

Z-L-aspartic acid β-methyl ester is an L-aspartic acid derivative in which the β-carboxyl group is esterified as a methyl ester and the α-amino group is protected by a benzyloxycarbonyl (Z, Cbz) group, giving a protected amino acid ester suitable for peptide-related chemistry. The molecule contains a Z-carbamate protecting group on nitrogen, an esterified β-carboxyl functionality, and a free α-carboxylic acid, with the aspartate side chain bearing a β-methyl-substituted carboxylate that modulates polarity and conformational preferences relative to unmodified aspartic acid.
