TFA-Gly-OH

TFA-Gly-OH contains a glycine residue bearing a carboxylic acid (-COOH) and a free amino functionality (-NH2) as indicated by the "Gly-OH" portion, with the amino group converted to a trifluoroacetyl (TFA) amide. The molecule therefore presents a trifluoroacetamide carbonyl (-NHCOCF3) as a protecting modification that reduces the nucleophilicity of the amino group while retaining the carboxylic acid for subsequent coupling chemistry. TFA-Gly-OH is commonly used as an amino acid derivative and peptide-building block in stepwise peptide synthesis and as a chemically defined glycine precursor for preparing more complex glycine-containing intermediates and conjugates.
