Threo-DL-β-Hydroxynorleucine is a threonine-like, non-proteinogenic β-hydroxy amino acid derivative featuring a straight-chain norleucine backbone with a β-hydroxyl substituent on the side chain. The molecule contains a free amino group and a free carboxyl group, and its "threo-DL" designation indicates a threo diastereomeric relationship with a racemic (DL) stereochemical composition at the relevant stereocenter(s).
